Forever 4S: The iPhone We Continue to Love

Today, Apple Insider released an article discussing the continued popularity of the iPhone 4s. Though the phone was released 31 months ago and numerous models (5, 5c, and 5s) have been released since, the iPhone 4S continues to remain strong with continued sales.

According Apple Insider, the iPhone 4s may account for 25% of all iPhones sold last quarter. While this is not a large share, this equates to approximately 10 million phones. Interestingly, this is also 6 times greater than sales of the 5c, which accounted for only 4% of iPhone sales in Q1.

So, the question remains: why is the iPhone 4s more popular than the iPhone 5C? While Apple lists the average selling price of the iPhone 4s at $450, this is often mitigated by provider contracts and mail-in rebates, making the iPhone 4S a low or sometimes no-cost option. (For instance, MacMall retail stores are now offering the iPhone 4s at no cost with a 2 year Verizon contract.)

As someone who still has the same 4s I had on launch day on October 14th, 2011, I’m keeping my 4s around partially to see how long the battery lasts and partially because I’m proud of how many heart-stopping pavement crashes it has survived. Why do you have your 4s? Let us know in the comments!
