Graphic Processing Improvement
According to Apple, the CTO graphics power in teraflops of the new iMac clocks in at 3.5 tfps. The current iMac, meanwhile, only clocks in at 2.4, marking a 45.8% improvement. For those looking for maximum performance, the R9 M295 is also available as an upgrade.
Improved Processing Power
While the standard model comes with a 3.5GHz Intel Core i5 processor, an upgraded 4.0GHz i& is also available.
Skipping past a 4K display and going straight for a 5K display to offer 67% more pixels, the display on the new 27 inch iMac is a definite improvement. The resolution comes out to 5,120 by 2,880, giving the display a total of 14.7 million pixels.
The new iMac features an Oxide TFT display that utilizes organic passivation to reduce pixel crosstalk. This means that the refresh rate of the display is improved and color bleed between pixels is reduced. The LEDs in the new display use 30% less energy than the previous model.
