Apple launches 9.7-inch iPad Pro
The highly-anticipated #AppleEvent took place inside its Cupertino campus on Monday, with one of its biggest revelations being the unveiling of the latest iPad Pro.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller says, “iPad Pro is a new generation of iPad that is indispensable and immersive, enabling people to be more productive and more creative. It’s incredibly fast, extremely portable, and completely natural to use with your fingers, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. And now it comes in two sizes.” He adds that “It is the ultimate upgrade for existing iPad users and replacement for PC users.”
Measuring at 9.7 inches and weighing just under a pound, it is smaller than first iPad Pro. But underneath the hood of this tablet lies a 64-bit A9X chip that has a performance capability that rivals most portable PCs. The output is reflected on a new Retina display, one that has adopted True Tone technology that is able to adjust the device’s white balance based on the light around it. It is also 25 percent brighter and 40 percent less reflective than the iPad Air 2.
As for sound quality, it also has adopted the four-speaker audio system that optimizes and adjusts audio, as it provides powerful, clear, and rich stereo sound.
The iPad Pro’s camera gets an improvement as well, using a 12MP iSight sensor enabled to take 4K videos, and a 5MP FaceTime HD front-facing camera ideal for videoconferencing.
Users can avail of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro in either silver, space gray, gold or a new rose gold metallic finish, starting at $599 for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model and $729 for the 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Storage comes in 32GB, 128GB or 256GB. MacMall can accept orders starting March 31.
