Printing from your iPhone or iPad isn’t as difficult as it used to be, thanks to iOS’ native AirPrint feature. AirPrint enables wireless printing from iOS devices, such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch models, without the need to download additional drivers or software. This feature is available on many Apple apps, such as Mail, Photos, Maps, Keynote, and Safari, so you can directly print information from these applications. Many apps from the App Store, including Instapaper, Evernote, and Dropbox, support AirPrint as well.

The process is even easier if you have an AirPrint-compatible printer. If your home or office printer is compatible with AirPrint, here are 3 easy steps to printing from your iPhone or iPad.

  • Check that AirPrint is enabled in the printer’s settings. Connect your iOS device and printer to the same WiFi network.
  • Once your device and the printer are connected, tap the Action button (square button with an arrow) on the app you want to print from.
  • If this is your first time printing from your iOS device, select the printer you want to use. Once you’ve chosen the right settings, tap the ‘Print’ button.

If your printer doesn’t seem to be available, try testing the connection between the printer and your iOS device. See if your device recognizes the printer by opening a note in the Notes app, tapping the Action button, and selecting the ‘Print’ option. If your iOS device and printer are connected, the printer should appear as the selected device. If this doesn’t work, you’ll have to do some troubleshooting on your printer.

If you happen to have a printer that’s not AirPrint-compatible, there are numerous third-party applications that you can use to connect your iOS device and your printer. These applications can usually be installed on your desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac) for easier configuration with your iOS device.
