Microsoft launches Office 365 Personal for Mac, iPad
If you feel that the Office 365 Home is too expensive for your taste, Microsoft unveiled a cheaper alternative with the Office 365 Personal subscription.
At $6.99 / month or $69.99 / year, Office 365 Personal allows access to one Mac or PC, or one iPad, instead of the five that Home plan offers. Personal still, however, offers smartphone access, as well as access to the online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote like its Home counterpart.
It also provides an added 20 GB of online storage with OneDrive, as well as 60 world minutes of Skype calling monthly to over 60 countries. This move is the latest by Microsoft to capitalize on their recent decision to offer their Office suite on the iPad late last month as free iOS applications to compete with Apple’s Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. However, users are only limited to viewing documents, necessitating an Office 365 subscription to be able to edit or save documents. Downloads for those apps have reached 12 million on the first week of release. The company has also signaled plans of releasing a new version of Office for the OS X on the Mac late this year.
