Official Microsoft Office Apps Now Available for iPad

The long wait for the official Microsoft Office for iPad apps is now finally over. At an event in San Francisco, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the Microsoft Office apps such as Excel and PowerPoint are now available to iPad users everywhere.

The apps allow users to enjoy desktop-level functions, with some bonus features thrown in. The PowerPoint app, for instance, lets you live-highlight and annotate slides. The app also features a ‘laser pointer’ red dot mode that should come in handy for presentations. The Excel app comes with a custom numeric keypad for creating equations. The Excel app even provides recommendations for visualizing your data.

These Microsoft Office for iPad apps could prove to be incredibly useful, especially to professionals who are familiar with the Microsoft Office interface on their desktops and would like to enjoy the same working environment on their iPads. These iPad apps will also be a boon to users of Office 365 subscriptions, since Office for iPad uses Office 365 to sync changes from your iPad to your desktop or laptop.
